An apologia (Ancient Greek: ἀπολογία) is a speech or writing that defends the speaker or author's position.

This site exhibits the core elements - concepts, diagnostics, pathways, cases, determinations - required to produce an assemblage. Assemblages are in motion; they have not yet been stabilized into apparatuses. An assemblage is both an object of inquiry as well as the objective to be achieved. The specific mode of the objects brought together into an assemblage is a contemporary one. By contemporary is meant a distinct stylization of old and new elements. The anthropology of the contemporary is dedicated to working on these objects in this mode. We have constructed this website as a venue to facilitate the initial work preparatory to inquiry.
